You can a 50/50 when you play the lottery. 100% chance you are right and 100% change you are wrong. If you are betting you will win the lottery then you do have a chance. Most people go through life thinking in this way.
It doesn’t have to be the lottery. It could be that huge business deal they are working on. It’s this one deal that will solve all their problems. Are you one of these people?
We are attracted to this mindset and concept because of all the success stories around us and our natural human programming for the instant gratification. We want things fast and immediately. It seems as if we have transformed into a snacking society where we want the fast food, maybe we snack on the internet skimming rather than reading, listening to parts of songs and changing the channel. It happens more than ever now and our culture is transforming further this way.
That instant gratification is dangerous because the results are usually nothing amazing – in fact most of the time disappointing. Similar if you play the lottery every single week. The results just suck – but eventually some people once in a while do hit it.
But I personally wouldn’t want to play those odds. I prefer a much larger circle where the odds are in my favor – don’t you?
